Happy Friday Friends,
I hope you are enjoying the summer. I haven’t written a newsletter in forever so I thought I’d send out a short message just to let you know I’m still here, reading and writing, though not publishing much online.
For those new to Circles In Space, I took a break from Substack back in March after starting a new role at my day job. That role required more of my time and energy for the first few months. Things have settled down now but after writing every week for nearly four years it was difficult getting back into a rhythm once I stopped. So a temporary break turned into a creative sabbatical.
Following this natural rhythm into summer, I find I’m journaling and reading often, but having few creative ideas. And after several months off from writing a weekly newsletter, I started thinking about the future of Circles In Space. I’m re-assessing what I want to offer to readers and how it fits into my own creative process. This can sometimes feel at odds with other writing projects I want to work on, like writing fiction, so I’m still working my way through those ideas.
This week I had a much-needed escape from work and city life with a peaceful and rejuvenating trip to New York’s Hudson River Valley. I read Dune: Messiah by the pool, practiced yoga among the trees, and sat by the fire and watched the sunset. I’m feeling inspired again. I’m learning it’s helpful to step away from your routines, pivot and try something new. That said, I hope to begin a regular rhythm of newsletters soon. I want to publish, publish, publish and just keep moving forward.
Here’s five bullets on what I’m reading, listening to and watching this summer:
