I think Siddhartha used bucket drums for the percussion in the Only Murders theme song as well to kind of capture the sound of the various street performances in the city. If he didn't use buckets, he may have used something else to emulate that sound. Either way, his thought process for writing the tune was fascinating!
Yes! I believe they said it was the drummer for The National who played bucket drums but Siddhartha also added snare at some point. I agree the whole process of layering the track and creating the individual elements to capture the spirit of the show was very interesting to learn about.
